Animals in Europe! We, K & R, decided to put together a nice collection from our European snaps.

This mosaic of a dog on a leash is more than 2000 years old and is almost intact today at Pompeii! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompeii) It is one of the oldest surviving 'Beware of Dog' signs. If you look closely at the base of the picture, through the ash and dust you can read 'Cave Canem' which is latin for 'Beware of Dog'. Some say that this was a 'warning to visitors, not that the dogs would attack but to beware of damaging the small dogs'.
(Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Greyhound#History) Looking at the mean dog in the mosaic, K & R say "We don't think so!" :)

Now here is a nice lovable sign from a street in Paris:

But if the dog is anything like this one below roaming the streets of Prague, K & R would rather have the first sign to warn us!

A Gargoyle from Notre Dame in Paris, France http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gargoyle

A Cat in a window from Brugges, Belgium. Reminds K & R of 'Le Chat Noir' or 'The Black Cat' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Le_Chat_Noir

And finally, a wonderful picture from Piazza San Marco in Venice, Italy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piazza_San_Marco : A universal symbol of peace with another symbol of peace...

Today, a glimpse of Shillong!

A poem R learnt in school best describes the next snap...

Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers and sees,
Silver fruit upon silver trees.
- Excerpt from Silver by Walter de la
Mare

When its foggy...

And when its not...

And finally, a picture of some lovely stained glass windows...
